Speech Quality Tip 7: Know linking patterns

Do you know what linking is?

In English speech, words often join together.  Sometimes the gap between them disappears.  Sometimes one of the sounds disappears.  Sometimes completely new sounds are made by joining the words. This is called linking.

Linking can make listening difficult for learners.

In this tip we will talk about how English conversation and casual speech often uses linking. We will look at some common linking patterns that can be used to not only improve your listening skills but also make your pronunciation sound more natural.

The next and final tip (Tip 8:  Enjoy accents) will broadcast from 2pm Japan time (12am EST) on Sunday March 14 on our new Pomaka English YouTube Channel
